The City Public Safety Department (CPSD) as mandated by the Republic Act 8475 (Section 45) shall perform the following task :

1. Develop plans and strategies, and upon approval by the City Mayor, implement the same, particularly those relating to public safety which the City Mayor and the Sangguniang Panlungsod is empowered to implement to provide and

1.  Perform such other duties and functions and exercise such other powers as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.

The CPSD is headed by the CIty Public Safety Officer (CPSO) who is a retired police officer Ermin C. Cabanding, PhD.

The CPSO manages and leads the Organization with four main sections under its structure namely,

– Traffic Management Unit

– Civil Security Unit

– Special Action Group

– Administrative Support
– CCTV Unit

1. The Traffic Management Unit is mainly tasked with the following key functions:

– Traffic Monitoring

– Traffic Signal Control 

– Incident Management 

– Violation Apprehension

– Information Dissemination

1. The Civil Security Unit performs Duties that cover protection of citizens, infrastructures and   institutions from all type of threats and danger.

1. The Special Action Group is responsible for the enforcement of city ordinances that cover and ensure public safety.
2.  The Administrative Support performs all administrative task in support of the department under the direct supervision of the city public safety officer.
3. The Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Monitoring Unit is instrumental in the recording and review of incidents in public places.
