A Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) is a government unit’s primary contact point for businesses, responsible for processing and issuing permits, licenses, and other certifications required to operate legally within a local jurisdiction. Under Philippine law, particularly RA 11032, its key functions include streamlining business transactions, conducting inspections, enforcing local ordinances, and ensuring compliance with regulations to create a business-friendly environment and foster economic growth.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Review applications submitted under the One-Stop-Shop licensing program;
- Evaluates the requirements of business permit applicants. Inspects business establishments around the municipality to determine those that have no permit, padlock erring business establishments;
- Issue business permits to commercial and industrial establishments;
- The Business Permit and Licensing Division is one of the major Tax Collection functions of the Local Government Unit, specifically focusing on the collection of business tax.
- Issue a retirement certificate on the business establishment’s filing of its closure;
- Issues certificate of No business and with business;
