Ika 24 ng Nobyembre, kasabay ng regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony ng Pamahalaang Lungsod, binigyang pagkilala si MS. HAYLEY FLANAGAN – Volunteer, United States Peace Corps.
Si Ms. Hayley, ay ika-limang (5th) American Peace Corps Volunteer, sa City Government of Calapan na naka-focus at target makatulong sa social and economic development kung ang pag-uusapan ay ang kapakanan ng ating baybay at yamang dagat. Ibinahagi ni Hayley ang kanyang expertise pagdating sa Coastal Resource Management June mula 2024.
Ang Fisheries Management Office (FMO) sa pamamahala ni Mr. Willy Landicho – FMO OIC, bilang mga frontliner at mayroong malaking tungkulin na ginagampanan pagdating sa aspeto ng pagpapalakas, pangangalaga at pagpapataas ng fishery production ay aktibong katuwang ng US Peace Corps sa pamamagitan ng Philippines National Volunteers Service Coordinating Agency.
Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, ang pagkakaroon ng Peace Corps Volunteer sa City Government of Calapan ay naganap unang termino ni Mayor Doy, taong 2009.
Ilan sa mga naibahagi at naging makabuluhang ambag ni Ms. Hayley Flanagan ay ang sumusunod:
1.Implementing a grant project from american people which includes scuba diving certification of 4 employees of the Fisheries Management Office. The grant project also provides some scuba gears and facilitated reef monitoring training for the assessment and monitoring of our reef areas here in Calapan City.
2.As an scuba diver, she has been part of the technical team that conducted underwater assessment to explore the beauty and the potentials of our reef areas for dive tourism.
3.She also helped in the assessment and mapping of mangrove and coral reefs for the proposed expansion of our Marine Protected Areas.
4. In 2024, she was also instrumental in the conduct of information campaign, educating over 500 students from 11 secondary schools in Calapan City, on marine biodiversity and the importance of coastal and marine conservation.
5.She also created the database system for the monitoring of Sea Turtle nesting and hatching as part of the FMO’s Pawikan Conservation Program.
